Passivate Passivation Specification Stainless Steel
Industrial Finishing Types Menu QQ-A-35, ASTM A967, AMS 2700 Passivate, Stainless, Steel - corrosion resistant ASTM A967 replaces QQ-A-35. This specification covers several different types of chemical passivation treatments for stainless steel parts. It includes recommendations and precautions for descaling, cleaning, and passivation of stainless steel parts. It includes several alternative tests, with acceptance criteria, for confirmation of effectiveness of such treatments for stainless steel parts A process designed to remove foreign metals from the surface of stainless and corrosion resistant steels of the 200, 300 and 400 series and precipitation hardened corrosion-resistance steels. Does not change the appearance of the base metal. Process purifies surface and therefore improves corrosion resistance. Type II Medium temperature with sodium dichrominate. Type VI Low temperature Type VII Medium temperature Type VIII Medium temperature with high concentration of nitric acid. High resistance to corrosive environments.
